HOSTING A WORKSHOP
If you would like to host a workshop, here are some general requirements. These suggestions are a basic guideline. Each situation is different, depending on the location, and season.
Venue:
In Winter, a medium to large size, indoor studio with a concrete floor or other suitable surface is ideal and necessary for workshops. Also some heat source is needed to keep us warm.
In the summer, the outdoor work area must have shade for all to work under, floor surfaces may vary (most are fine).
There must to be a power and water source nearby. The mixing area gets messy.
Sculptures take a few days to dry and need to be left in place, until dry enough to move. So there needs to be somewhere, where students may leave their work for a few days until it’s safe for them to move their sculpture.
Number of Students:
For most workshops a minimum number of 10 people and maximum of 15, is good.
Length of Workshop:
Weekend workshops are 2-3 days, or 2 days with an introduction on Friday night. We also run week long workshops in the summer. The host provides tea and simple snacks. Students bring their own lunch.
Costs:
We run workshops in two ways, either we do the organizing and promotion and charge a fee, from $180-$350.00 per person, depending on the location, duration and time of year of the workshop, or the host does the organizing and promoting and us pays a tutor fee.
Materials are extra and need to be covered by the participants, as individuals make sculptures in a range of sizes. Materials costs range from $20 for small sculptures, up into $100+ for larger pieces.

In addition, if being paid a tutor fee, most poly techs and art school organizations cover travel costs, meals and accommodation.
